FILMCO is hiring a part-time technical coordinator and we’re looking for someone who is creative yet methodical, a team player and comfortable working independently; has experience editing short video clips for social media etc.

DETAILS OF THE POSITION

Position: Technical Coordinator of FILMCO
Part time/ contract position, minimum of 32 hrs/ 4 days a week (8 hrs per day) increasing to five days per week in the months of July, August and September (during which time you will receive additional pay for every extra day worked)
Location: based in the FILMCO office in Belmont, although it may be necessary to work remotely on occasion
Duration: 1 YEAR: 1st March 2023 – 29th February 2024 (3 month probationary period ending 2nd June 2023)
Pay: $6750/ month

  2. SCOPE OF DUTIES

The Technical Coordinator will report to the General Manager and will be expected to work in a deadline driven environment with multiple responsibilities and duties, and changing situations. He/ she will work both independently and in a team environment, without close supervision and as part of an interdependent team of staff members. Local travel to deliver content to broadcasters and venues will be required. 

Technical Coordinator DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Technical Coordinator your responsibilities will revolve around receiving and organising content, ensuring its readiness for online streaming, broadcast and or exhibition and maintaining up to date databases and online channels. You will manage content uploads and updates to our online streaming platforms. You will also edit video clips to aid in promotion of the film festival, the FILMCO catalogue, and any special events as deemed necessary. Your role will include, but not be limited to:

  1. Receive, download and re-format film and television content
  2. Upload all content to FILMCO’s storage (both original and television FILMCO-branded version)
  3. Upload all film trailers to the required FILMCO/ ttff online channels 
  4. Perform editing functions including cutting together short trailers and/ or promotional videos, cutting for commercial breaks, adding video bumpers, pulling promotional clips, blurring for censorship etc
  5. View all content received and edit as necessary to adhere to censorship guidelines
  6. Liaise with broadcasters and or film exhibitors/ distributors as necessary
  7. Deliver necessary content to broadcasters and or film exhibitors
  8. Maintain organised digital filing for film content
  9. Update relevant spreadsheets with content submitted to broadcasters/ exhibitors/ distributors etc
  10. Implement and maintain a log of all films received, processed and delivered with necessary data (including format, length, bit rate and hyperlink to location on file)  
  11. Troubleshoot any and all tech issues related to the role
  12. Stay up to date on all broadcast and exhibition standards
  13. Ensure timely communication – internal/ external – for the organisation (telephone, email) on a daily basis so that relevant team members, partners, clients and suppliers have a clear sense of workload, deliverables etc
  14. Prepare for and run video playback/ projections as necessary at FILMCO and trinidad+tobago film festival events
  15. Keep editing computers updated and in good working order

3. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

The selected candidate must have no less than two years of video editing experience, and must be proficient in:

  • DaVinci resolve
  • Photoshop
  • After Effects
  • The back-end use of web-based platforms including (but not limited to) YouTube, Vimeo and WordPress
  • Must be able to format video outputs for various platforms including (but not limited to) television broadcast, DCP, Instagram Reels, YouTube etc

A love of films and knowledge of the local film/ television scene is not essential but would be an asset

  • Comfortable operating film projection technology including DVD, Blu Ray and other players and various projectors
