Weeknight Workshop: Visual Marketing 101

Let’s face it, when we’re choosing a movie to watch on Netflix, a bad poster or production image can be a major deterrent in a sea of better choices. Conversely, a good poster or production still can make you watch a movie, even if you’ve never heard of the director or any of the film’s stars. That’s because visual marketing is so powerful! And those images are everywhere: on social media, in distribution catalogues in film festival catalogues, on web-based streaming sites, posters and invitations, billboards and signage. Yet all-too-often, filmmakers ignore or skip over these critical aspects of their film’s marketing, severely impacting their film’s chance of success.

FILMCO is pleased to present Visual Marketing 101, in which graphic designer and uwi lecturer (part-time), Ayrïd Chandler unpacks the elements of a successful poster or production still, and guides participants through all the elements of strong visual marketing for their films.

The workshop would be helpful for designers, filmmakers, film strategists, producers and photographers interested in film-related photography.
