All this is what makes a 1st Assistant Director (1st AD).  From storyboarding to shoot scheduling to calling the roll and liaising with crew, the 1st Assistant Director wears many hats. Interested in learning more about the pivotal production role?

Hear from experienced, internationally trained 1st Assistant Director, Roma Zachemba. During this 90-minute presentation, Roma will give a firsthand account of what it’s like to be an Assistant Director. You’ll gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of ADs, and why they are so important for narrative film productions. You’ll also have the chance to learn about the processes, practical skills and attributes that would make you a sought-after Assistant Director.

About the facilitator: Roma Zachemba

Roma Zachemba’s passion for movie-making is a neverending story. With experience as a TV presenter, Co-organizer of the Camerimage Film Festival, Roma worked on many continents on a wide range of film and audiovisual projects. She is continuously developing her industry knowledge by working on her own projects and collaborating with other filmmakers and organisations. With a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to this field, Roma works as an assistant director and producer while directing personal projects.
