FILMCO is currently seeking to employ a part-time (24-32 hrs/ week) membership and education programme coordinator for, in the first instance, a six-month period.
The education and membership coordinator will be responsible for further developing, ideating, coordinating, and implementing, FILMCO’s Education and Membership programmes as primary elements of the mandate of our organisation. Work will be done remotely until such time as it is safe to work in our office in Belmont, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Founded in January 2017 by four filmmakers from Trinidad and Tobago, FILMCO is a non-profit organisation dedicated to creating a sustainable ecosystem for film and television producers and directors in Trinidad & Tobago and the wider Caribbean and to being a leader in the sustained development of a diverse audio-visual industry.

Education and Membership Coordinator
- BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW
Created in 2017, the Filmmakers Collaborative of Trinidad and Tobago (FILMCO) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to creating a sustainable ecosystem for film and television producers and directors in Trinidad & Tobago and the wider Caribbean. FILMCO’s core areas of focus are currently: Distribution of films and television series; Professional development and training programmes as well as developing a vibrant membership organisation.
Employment Position type: Part time position, minimum of 24 hrs/ 3 days a week

2. SCOPE OF DUTIES
The Membership / Education Coordinator will be responsible for further developing, ideating, coordinating, and implementing, FILMCO’s Education and Membership programmes as primary elements of the mandate of our organisation. The Membership / Education Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and will manage the portfolios of MEMBERSHIP and EDUCATION as necessary to accomplish the organisation’s objectives in regards to building a sustainable ecosystem for film and television professionals.
Education/ Membership Coordinator DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Education/ Membership Coordinator, you will function as the liaison between the organisation and its members and you will work to further develop and implement FILMCO’s Education programme. The Education/ Membership Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of membership. This includes serving as the first point of contact for members and membership-related questions, answering queries, providing information, devising regular communication activities, building out and operationalising our member benefits, and maintaining membership records, tracking membership figures, and fees.
- GENERAL
- Plan and maintain an organised online membership filing and storage system that can be utilised by staff throughout the organisation
- Ensure that the filmmaker member database is continually updated and maintained through google sheets and the FILMCO website
- Continually create, develop and implement our Education programmes through Masterclasses, Weeknight Workshops, info sessions, ttff industry panels and presentations
- Perform basic accounting for your projects, including running costs, budget requests, income and expenditure reports
- Make bi-monthly presentations to the Board on membership and education, including membership and workshop numbers, workshop feedback income and expenditure reports and updates on projects, recommendations for future development
- Ensure timely communication – internal/ external – for the organisation (telephone, email) on a daily basis (team, service providers, members)
- Ensure implementation of the organisation’s policies and practices
- MEMBERSHIP
- Handling all questions, information requests, and complaints regarding membership
- Processing membership applications, renewals, and resignations
- Maintaining and updating membership records and associated accounts
- Spearheading member communication activities such as electronic mailers, phone check-ins and email correspondence
- Collecting data, tracking membership statistics, and preparing reports
- Developing and implementing strategies to recruit new members
- Developing and implementing strategies to build the visibility and profile of our members and their projects
- Coordinating with the accounting department to track membership revenue
- Coordinating the preparation of membership marketing materials
- Liaising with social media coordinator on membership promotions
- Planning and implementing events and activities for existing and prospective members
- Keep abreast of development/ production and post production progress on new projects of members, as well as shifting film/ television industry trends
- Liaise with social media manager to promote members and their work across the platforms, including website/ social media
- Continue the implementation of the monthly 12-question interviews of members
- Liaise with the webmaster and other relevant team members to update member profiles/ project profiles and build member visibility through the FILMCO website
- EDUCATION
- Further develop, plan and implement FILMCO’s education programme and associated activities including (but not limited to) Masterclasses, Weeknight Workshops, info sessions, ttff industry panels and presentations. This includes:
- Course development
- Hiring and communicating with course facilitators
- Ensuring course facilitator preparedness and relevance of course outline and materials
- Quality control
- Maintain budget and track expenditure/ transactions
- Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.)
- Collect attendance data, tracking statistics, and prepare reports
- Liaise with social media manager to promote education programme across the platforms, including website/ social media
- Generate education programme-related content for electronic mailers/ web posts and social media promotions
- Coordinate/ undertake then set-up and break down of all workshops
- Further develop, plan and implement FILMCO’s education programme and associated activities including (but not limited to) Masterclasses, Weeknight Workshops, info sessions, ttff industry panels and presentations. This includes:
The selected candidate must have a demonstrable interest in Caribbean film and filmmakers; strong writing skills are important as candidate will need to be the conduit for communicating all workshops, logistics, facilitator info etc by creating web posts, electronic mailers etc. Also, the selected candidate should work well in a team and be able to work independently; must be able to multitask (as there are likely to be several projects happening simultaneously); must have good people skills, be personable, friendly and helpful. Fluency in either French or Spanish would be beneficial but not essential.
